ACORN, at least in California; "yellow" is the new "red."

I had heard some rumblings a few weeks back because of the ACORN “pimp & pro” sting by O’Keefe & Giles the little nuts were bugging out. Getting out of town. Slinking into a hole. But even cockroaches and snakes have to come up for air every once in awhile, so what is really happening is they are “rebranding.” Doing a makeover. “Flipping their houses.” Only a lot of them are the same house.

I’m sure the “poison fruit of the oak tree” hoped we wouldn’t notice, but do they really think we are that stupid? Apparently so.

A couple of weeks ago I went to ACORN’s webpage and printed out a copy of the listing of all their offices in the US. And started making phone calls. I started with the six offices listed in Ohio. Phone numbers for Akron, Dayton, Toledo and Cincinnati are disconnected. Columbus says “mailbox full” but didn’t identify who they were. Only the Cleveland office answers and identifies themselves as “Cleveland Acorn.” And since I don’t live far from Toledo, I took a drive to the address in downtown listed at 316 N. Michigan. The office is empty. No sign, no nothing.

Then on to other parts of the country. Miami, Vegas, New Orleans, San Bernadino & Oakland CA numbers disconnected. San Diego says “leave message” but no identifier. Detroit & Rhode Island ACORN in Providence answer & identify them as ACORN offices, but “please leave a message.” The Dallas office answers as The Texas Organizing Project. hmmmm…The LA office number answers and states “ACORN is no longer operating in LA.” hmmmm….Remember this for later, guys.

Then I ran into an article on Big Government written by Matthew Vadum, who has written tons about ACORN. There Vadum states that ACORN in New York has a new name of New York Communities for Change. And that California ACORN has “rebranded” as ACCE, or Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment. Come on, give me a break. But research tells me h/t on this actually goes to lib blogger Norman Oder of Atlantic Yards who beat Vadum by a couple of hours.

ACORN, ACORN, ACORN. I was so sick of hearing about them. So just like Scarlett O’Hara I told myself “tomorrow is another day” and I set this aside for a few. Then today I was alerted, h/t to Jesse Hathaway, about an e-mail he received from ACCE in California. I tracked it down on their website.

Los Angeles ACCE Members Join LA Councilmember Richard Alarcon to Introduce New Standards for Banks Doing Business with City

Remember earlier in this post I told you I called the LA ACORN office and got the “ACORN is no longer operating in LA” message. That was less than two weeks ago. Look at the date on the above: January 23, 2010. I cross-checked the address listed of 3655 South Grand Ave with the address listed for LA’s ACORN office I printed out a couple of weeks ago. Ohhh,,, my gosh! Same address!!

Who would have thought. We even have one of the “usual suspects.” SEIU.

The only thing changed here, folks, is the name and the color of their t-shirts, which are now “yellow” instead of their usual “red.”

ACCE CA

Notice the name of LA Councilman “Richard Alarcon” in their post. Don’t know him. So I asked Erick Brockway because he lives in the area if Alarcon is a “crook.” So h/t to Brockway for providing me with this interesting little tidbit on Alarcon from ABC and the vid below:

Seems that Alarcon is being investigated because he supposedly registered to vote giving an address for a home that is not his residence!

Who would have thought. ACORN is known for fraudulent voter registrations, has been indicted in several states, has bugged out in many areas because of the “pimp and pro” scandal. Now they have reopened in many areas with different names, but are still up to their old tricks. And now apparently their “modus operandi” has rubbed off onto an LA Councilman.

To Councilman Alarcon. If you are reading this post. I dare ya to refute the above paragraph.

Thanks.

Jennifer Brunner… desperate or on a roll?

You guys are probably tired of hearing me yap about Jennifer Brunner. But I can’t help it. Every time I calm down her name somehow arises from the bad nut of the ACORN tree and gets me agitated again.

For those of you who don’t know (God forbid) who she is, she is the notorious Secretary of State in Ohio, who was put into office with the help of ACORN and the Secretary of State Project backed by none other than our good buddy George Soros. Jennifer is a conundrum, that is for sure. She can project as the sweetest person in the world, but she has ice in her veins. She is running for US Senate in Ohio. Her GOP opponent is former Rep. Rob Portman and her Dem contender is current Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher.

You know me. Mrs. James Bond. I sign up for ALL the e-mails. From the right and from the left. And good ole JB sent me one the other day. Complaining as usual. SHE is being treated unfairly. This is the woman who was in the news so much in Election 2008. Remember all those voter fraud allegations in Ohio? Going all the way to SCOTUS to get her way with voter registration? The man claiming to be paid in cigarettes by ACORN for submitting 72 voter registration cards?

Brunner is livid because she claims a member of the group COAST put out a tweet on twitter saying “good riddance” to Murtha. And this same group is holding a fundraiser for candidate Portman. Well I did some legwork on twitter. I can’t find that tweet. It was either garbaged by COAST or it doesn’t exist. If you notice from Brunner’s site, she just posted a link to the twitter page of COAST. All of us on twitter know that a specific tweet can be harnessed and a URL can be obtained. Strangely, she doesn’t give us that URL. So does that tweet really exist? I don’t know. She is asking Portman to disassociate himself from COAST because of this offending tweet.

And that ain’t all. Ole JB is also complaining the secretary of the NRSC is accusing her of “questionable associations” (don’t know who that could be) and she is being equated to the likes of Reid and Pelosi.

To pile on, the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (NRSC) Press Secretary opened up with a torrent of comments in response to the article, [Cincinnati Enquirer] with false accusations of my being “mired in questionable associations with several organizations.” She said that “Ohioans will reject…partisan rhetoric and hypocrisy this November.”

I searched high and low and couldn’t find a document or link. I even called her campaign office. They can’t find a link either. They promised to get back to me. That was 3 days ago.

And get a load of this. Brunner is also being backed by none other than the Lib’s Bible, The Kos, who is behind her. After all,

We need to support Jennifer. She stood up for us, against DEATH THREATS from Republicans, to protect our votes in 2008. It’s time we backed her up.

Just like the Breitbart smackdown of Blumenthal at CPAC, it just doesn’t get better than this.

Chip in to get Babs “ma’am” Boxer OUT of CA. Chip in to keep Jennifer Brunner OUT of Ohio US Senate.

Meet Marty Lamb (MA #3)

While in the Bloggers Lounge at CPAC I had the opportunity to interview Marty Lamb, running for MA #3.

Marty Lamb is a residential real estate attorney running against incumbent Jim McGovern. McGovern has been in the current seat since 1997. The core belief of Lamb’s campaign is:

Your government’s primary role is to preserve, protect and defend your God-given gift of freedom, not to micromanage your life.

Mr. Lamb stated to me that he is a Constitutionalist, is pro 2nd Amendment, and pro 10th Amendment. He will work to lower taxes, is against Cap & Trade and is a strong believer of interstate commerce.

Mr. Lamb is also pro-life and does not believe in abortion except in the event of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is in danger. He is also an advocate of parental notice for underage women.

Meet Patrick Murray (Virginia #8)

Update: 4/21/10*

Col. Murray issued the following statement today:

Congressman Jim Moran [incumbent] has a 26-year history of ethical violations in financing campaigns, beginning with his court-approved removal from the office of Alexandria Vice-Mayor in 1984.

With incidents too numerous to list over the next two decades, Moran was recently named by Judicial Watch as one of the 10 most ethically-challenged Members of Congress for his deep involvement in the PMA lobbying campaign cash-for-earmarks scandal.

Now, unbelievably, in the wake of Goldman Sachs being indicted for massive securities fraud, OpenSecrets.org reports that Jim Moran has taken almost $4,000 in campaign cash contributions from Goldman. Enough is enough. The people of Virginia’s 8th Congressional District deserve better. I call on Jim Moran to immediately return the cash from Goldman Sachs.

Original post begins below*

While in the Blogger’s Lounge at CPAC I had the opportunity to interview Patrick Murray, running for US House Virginia #8.

Patrick Murray is a retired army colonel of 24 years running against incumbent Jim Moran who has been in this current seat since 1991. I asked Col. Murray why a military man was running for Congress, and he responded although America is a strong and prosperous country, he does not like the trends which are happening at this time. Col. Murray is a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and tells me he has received the endorsement of John Bolton. Col. Murray is against the government takeover of Health Insurance. He feels better options should include buying over state lines, tort reform, and outcome-based medicine. He is in favor of a strong defense for our nation and supports the troop surge in Afghanistan.

Because one attendee at this conference was a paraplegic young Vet from the Iraq War, I also questioned Col. Murray what if any changes he hoped to make to our VA system in this country. He stated that the VA needs to be more responsive to our Vets and those that have sustained injuries and he would work to strengthen medical services to them.

The one issue I found missing on his website was his stance on abortion. When questioned on this, he responded he is pro-choice; but is against federal funding for abortion, partial-birth abortion and is in favor of parental notification for under-age women. I asked him if he felt this stance was a necessity because this district is a liberal one, and he stated this is his personal opinion and believes that women should have the right to control what happens to their bodies. While I personally applaud Col. Murray for having the courage of his convictions, this could be a real deal-breaker for many Conservatives.
