The Top Ten Reasons to attend CPAC

I had the privilege of attending CPAC 2010, not only as an attendee; but as a member of the Blogger’s Lounge. Therefore I had a chance to see, hear, meet and greet and be a part of many “behind the scenes” stories and events. There were also a couple of “events” which have stuck in my memory I stumbled on by happenstance. So in particular order, from #10 to #1, my Top Ten Reasons Why to Attend CPAC.

10. Meeting many of the candidates. I interviewed Patrick Murray, a retired army colonel who is running for VA #3 against Jim Moran. I also interviewed Marty Lamb running for MA #3. More on these two guys in another post.

9. Chuck Devore. The up-and-coming candidate for US Senator in California. Ya know, the home of Babs “ma’am” Boxer and CarlyforCA. I had a chance to meet Chuck, talk with him for a sec. And I even got my pic taken with him. Here is his vid from the event:

And also John Dennis. Ya know, that other dude in California. This one happens to be running for Madame Pelosi’s seat. I had a chance to meet John as well, and have a pic of the two of us together. Both of these two gentlemen are very gracious and well-spoken. I believe the entire Conservative Movement needs to support these two gentleman. “As California goes, so goes the nation.”

8. John Boehner. Of course all of you know John is a fellow Buckeye. I didn’t have a chance to meet John, but he was a dynamite speaker. Boehner’s best line was:

Never, ever give up.

7.Jim DeMint. A memorable quote from his speech that first day was:

The best way to re-earn the trust of the American people and to reclaim a Republican majority is to find and support more candidates who believe in the Principles of Freedom.

6. Being with 9,999 other Conservatives.

5. Newt Gingrich. Love him or hate him, he entered the ballroom to a standing ovation and an SRO crowd as “Eye of the Tiger” was played.

4. Marco Rubio. Our next US Senator from Florida. And I don’t think I am being overly confident.

3. Glenn Beck. I don’t think I need to say anything more about this one;)

And when one is in close proximity with 9,999 other people, expect the unexpected. So for the last two “events” I was lucky enough to be “in the right place at the right time.”

2. Rant on Obama by an English exchange student. I posted this on RedState earlier. I ran into the dude again last night. He didn’t remember anything about it, surprise! And he was even further surprised he was actually on the Internet. Still good stuff.

And the drumroll is:

1. Catching the last half of the Breitbart/Blumenthal confrontation in the lobby of the Marriott. Since I am a small blond woman, I am able to cram myself through the crowd and be “up close and personal.” I even got to shake AB’s hand.

It just doesn’t get any better than this.

Best Rant at CPAC: by a British Exchange Student

I am thoroughly enjoying myself at CPAC 2010. As well as being informative, invigorating, and exhilarating, a group of 10,000 people including a lot of students makes a great mix of personalities. There are people here not only from the US but many from Canada, Ireland, England and several other countries as well.

Speakers have been revved up. Especially Boehner, Rubio, and Herman Cain. The crowd in the Marriott Ballroom was on their feet many times during these speeches.

But the best rant of all occurred unexpectedly last evening. About 11pm. A few of us were standing outside enjoying the night air when a group of college kids returned from a party. One was a British exchange student who coincidentally attends the University of Toledo in my town. I was then treated along with everyone else to a diatribe on Obama and his policies you wouldn’t believe. The f-bomb was his word of choice. Granted, he had had too many beers; about a case according to his friend who was with him. But our little band of “attendees” all thoroughly enthralled by this unexpected “treat”; clapped and agreed this was worth the cost of admission to CPAC. This young kid, drunk as he was, understands completely what this country is up against with Obama in the Oval Office and the effect it is having on his country as well.

Thanks Dave. Great job!

CPAC 2010: An Event to really irritate the Libs

Live, from the Bloggers Lounge, it’s CPAC 2010!

I have had the distinct privilege to be able to attend CPAC 2010 in DC. What an absolutely amazing experience it has been so far, and we are only 3 hours into the event!

This is gonna be a real barn-burner. Because at least 10,000 Conservatives are expected to attend, I am assuming a lot of teeth-gnashing is going on among the Lib contingent.

There are people here not only from the U.S; but I have met bloggers from Canada as well as Ireland. I was told there is a Scottish Conserv here, but so far I haven’t met him. I am hoping if I do, he can get me into the “Scotch.”

Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina got the crowd revved up for our first keynote speaker: our next senator from Florida, Marco Rubio. Rubio worked the crowd, and unlike the man in the Oval Office he did not use a teleprompter. Rubio is a true Conservative, and needs the support of all of us to ensure a victory in Florida in November.

Still on the agenda for today is our own Erick Erickson, Mitt Romney, Matt Kibbe of FreedomWorks, J.D. Hayworth, John Boehner, Wayne LaPierre of the NRA and Judge Andrew Napolitano.

For all of you on twitter, we have been asked to use the hashtag #CPAC10 when referring to CPAC.

I will be giving several updates of my experiences at this amazing conference.

This event is on its way to ensuring many Conservative victories in November of 2010.

Dems to Get "Down and Dirty" in Ohio?

We’ve all heard the saying, “As Ohio goes, so goes the nation.” Ohio delivered the presidency to GWB in both 2000 and 2004. And many have said that because Ohio went “blue” in 2008, this ensured a victory for Obama.

I am sure that all you readers witnessed the shenanigans in Ohio in the fall of 2008. Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner was helped into office by ACORN with theSecretary of State” project, which is a concerted effort to elect Secretaries of State which are “sympathetic” to the Democrats. They weren’t gonna let another Katherine Harris derail their “plans.” Brunner used all her muscle with the likes of ACORN, ProjectVote and all the cabal that goes along with them to ensure Ohio went for Obama.

Now Ms. Brunner is running for US Senate. How nice. Just what Ohio and DC needs: the #1 ACORN Lady, as I affectionately call her, bringing all her cabal to DC. Also running for Ohio Senate is GOP Rob Portman, Akron businessman Tom Ganley, and Dem Lt. Governor Lee Fisher.

Portman will easily win the primary in May. I had predicted that Fisher would win the Dem primary, but unfortunately Ms. Brunner is picking up steam. Portman has a little over $6M in finances. Brunner about $677K. But we all know that money ain’t everything when corruptness, voter fraud and bribery is in the mix. Even if Brunner wins or loses the primary, wins or loses the Senate election; she will still be in control of the election itself. This thought has been extremely horrifying to me because I watched in fascination the trainwreck that Ohio was during Election 2008.

And ever since I have predicted that it would happen again in 2010. And it looks like I am correct.

I received an urgent message today from Rep. Portman. The Dems are going to be “bringing in all the troops” and building a firewall in Ohio to again attempt an assurrance that Ohio stays Dem and will once again assist in the re-election of Mr. Obama in 2012.

Said ODP [Ohio Democratic Party] executive director Doug Kelly, “By keeping Ohio Democratic in 2010, Ohio will be the firewall for Pres. Obama’s re-election in 2012.”

Great! We can look forward, I am sure, to SEIU, MoveOn.org, ACORN, OFA’s “rapid response teams” et al to descend on this battleground state again. And Ohio will be front and center once more on every news station in the country.

To keep its momentum rolling, the ODP has been deploying staffers all across the state for a road show known as the “Knockout” program. [sic] The ODP plans to hold these “Knockout” events in all 88 counties, and in doing so, they’re lengthening their volunteer list. What’s more, ODP field staffers say they’re supplying those volunteers with access to some of their best data to make them most effective now.

Brunner can still lose the primary to Fisher. But my personal feeling is the Dems are drooling at the prospect of having her as a US Senator. She would certainly fit in quite nicely with all the other of her ilk in DC.

Rep. Portman is asking all of us to donate $20 to his campaign. I think we can all afford to “give up a pizza” and make sure the rest of the country doesn’t say:

“Ohioans put another Dem into the Senate. What were you guys thinking?”
