ACTUAL Sebelius Medicare Propagandized Brochure

Several days ago I did a post about Sebelius’ propagandized Medicare Brochure and the letter the GOP Senate sent her demanding answers.

I was visiting my parents today and asked my mother if she and dad had received the propaganda brochure. Lo and behold they had. So I brought it home and scanned it for your viewing pleasure. It’s a full color, glossy-papered piece of propaganda crap art. For full impact it’s scanned as a high-quality pdf.

If Kenny Solomon from Red State is reading this, I feel the same way as you did when you saw it. Wish I had had my Bushmaster with me. As you say, the only thing this is good for is target practice.

Below is the propaganda brochure.

Memorial Day–or Not?

Folks, we should all be appalled. Memorial Day, or Decoration Day, as it used to be called; has become a casualty. It’s true meaning and reason for being has become lost over the years.

Memorial Day was proclaimed on May 5, 1868, by Gen. John Logan, National Commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. It was first observed May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on graves of both Union & Confederate soldiers in Arlington National Cemetery. In 1971, the Feds moved it to the last Monday of May, to give their employees a 3-day weekend. How nice.

When I was a kid, everything shut down on Memorial Day, as it should be. My dad always made sure he gassed up the car the day before, and Mom made sure there was milk in the house because everything was closed on Memorial Day. Now instead of honoring the hundreds of thousands of men and women who gave their lives for our freedom and liberty, we think of Memorial Day as a day to sleep in, to have a picnic, or get an extra 20% off at the mall. I’ve seen probably only two other homes in my neighborhood fly our flag that day.

Appalling.

And what about parades? How many cities have parades anymore, and how many people attend? In 1915, Moina Michael wrote this little poem:

We cherish too, the Poppy Red
That grows on fields, where valor led.
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.

This little poem says it all, don’t you think? My friends, lets make a pact. We must never forget or take for granted the selfless sacrifice of our war heroes, dead and alive. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to “tweet.” I wouldn’t be using this computer to write a post. Folks wouldn’t be able to protest or have a Tea Party. So please, guys; if you don’t have a flag, go buy one and hang it proudly. They aren’t that expensive. Protest by not going to the mall or doing any shopping. Visit a cemetery, even if you don’t have a loved one there who was in the service. And make sure you tell any veteran or armed services person that day:

“Thank you for your service to this country. Without you, this wouldn’t be the greatest nation in the world. I have my life, my liberty, and my happiness, because of you. I am most humbly honored to know you.”

Freedom Is Not Free

Kelly Strong

I watched the flag pass by one day. It fluttered in the breeze.

A young Marine saluted it,

and then he stood at ease.

I looked at him in uniform

So young, so tall, so proud,

He’d stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him

Had fallen through the years.

How many died on foreign soil?

How many mothers’ tears?

How many pilots’ planes shot down?

How many died at sea?

How many foxholes were soldiers’ graves?

No, freedom isn’t free.

I heard the sound of TAPS one night,

When everything was still

I listened to the bugler play

And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times

That TAPS had meant “Amen,”

When a flag had draped a coffin

Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,

Of the mothers and the wives,

Of fathers, sons and husbands

With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard

At the bottom of the sea

Of unmarked graves in Arlington.

No, freedom isn’t free

Sebelius uses Medicare brochure to mislead seniors & give wrong info

Update 5/29/10. While visiting my parents today I asked my mom if they had received the notorious propagandized brochure. Lo and behold, they had! So I brought it home and scanned it for your viewing pleasure.

Sebelius Medicare Brochure

Original post begins below.

Gotta give her credit. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has no shame. First she is clueless about how much H/C high risk pools will cost. This video bears repeating. It’s one where you don’t know whether to laugh or cry:

Now the Senate GOP is after her again. They wrote Sebelius a letter stating her new Medicare brochure to seniors is “misleading.” Highlights of the letter state to her:

  • The first paragraph claims the H/C bill will increase quality of care to seniors, while we know that many providers will end their participation in Medicare.
  • The second paragraph claims the new H/C bill will keep Medicare “strong and solvent.” However, the chief actuary states this may be “unrealistic.”
  • The brochure states “your guaranteed benefits won’t change” while the chief actuary states cuts to Medicare Advantage will include “less generous benefit packages.”

They call the brochure:

“at best inappropriate and a wasteful use of taxpayer dollars and at worst a gross misuse of taxpayer funds to provide biased information for political purposes.”

They ask that she provide info as to who initiated the brochure, if she proofed it, if White House staff were involved (no brainer there), who the contractor was who designed and printed the brochure, details of how the brochure is being distributed, who paid for the brochure and how much. Propaganda from the Liar-in-Chief . They are asking for a response no later than June 11, 2010. The signers are: Mitch McConnell, John Barrasso, Jon Kyl, Lamar Alexander, Charles Grassley, Mike Enzi, John Thune, and Tom Coburn. What could be lousier than this. Taking advantage of our seniors for political gain. Crossposted

“America Speaking Out.” A new initiative to “let your voice be heard” by Congress

Today I had the honor and privilege of being part of a conference call with Chief Deputy Republican Whip Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL) and Republican Conference Vice Chair Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (R-WA). They are debuting an innovative website called “America Speaking Out.”

The triad chose the museum in D.C. for their press conference announcing the site because on the side of the building is engraved the words of the 1st Amendment. Because the current Administration has not heard our cries or pleas to stop the unprecedented “tax and spend” and “the wishes of the people”  this site will allow Congress to listen, engage us, and also give an opportunity for debate on both sides.

Rep. Roskam proclaimed this site as “the transformation of how the public interacts with Congress.”  The site will allow all of us to use one of the most powerful tools at our disposal: the internet. The public has not been invited to debate robustly until now so the goal is to make the site the beginning of something which is “here to stay, grow and evolve; and which will be highly interactive.” Each time one logs into the site, all past debate or comments from that person will show up along with any and all new items pertaining to that topic. Here is Rep. McCarthy explaining in detail:

Rep. McMorris-Rodgers expressed her feeling of many Americans’ concerns that Congress is not listening, that too many in power think they know better than the citizens and are pushing an agenda that many Americans don’t support. This site will give Americans new tools to help them engage their representatives and change the way we communicate with them. There will also be direct interactions between citizens and  representatives on the site and will:

“revolutionize the way we can build a positive agenda for America’s future.”

This new technology will give power back to the people because D.C. has been ignoring our wishes and will give the “common man a common voice.”

Please take a look at the site. Let your “voice be heard.” Engage in healthy debate and interact with many members of Congress.

Liberty Central: “America’s Public Square”

Liberty Central – America’s Public Square. We Listen. We Inspire. We Activate…to secure the blessings of liberty.

Several days ago I did a post about LibertyCentral a new website hosted by Ginni Thomas, wife of SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas. The website had its official debut today. I had the distinct honor and privilege of being a participant on a conference call today hosted by Mrs. Thomas and the rest of her team.

Last Sunday FoxNews’ Chris Wallace discussed the new website:

The website’s core principles are:

  • Limited government.
  • Individual liberty.
  • Free enterprise.
  • National security and
  • Personal responsibility.

Coming soon will be a 2010 “Election Heat” map, and there is also an education area.

“Hot issues” being addressed right now are:

  • Job destruction in America.
  • Welfarization and capsizing of America.
  • Liberty and security.
  • The attack on charities.
  • President Obama’s Health Law: Dangerous to Health and Freedom.
  • Federal Taxing, Borrowing, and Spending.
  • “Too big to fail.”
  • What your kids are learning and
  • Cap and Trade: Jobs and Power.

According to Mrs. Thomas the website’s goal is to empower conservative Americans to take action and to “reverse the megaphone” because “Washington is not good at listening.”  Other goals are to engage citizens about Constitutional issues and inspire average citizens to activism.

Please take a look at Liberty Central.

“Join the conversation, get inspired and take action.”
