Obama pouts, tries end-run around Congress, vote in Senate to defund EPA next week

Yes. We all remember the battle. June 26 2009 the day the House passed cap and trade. Conservatives who knew this would damage our country, jobs, way of living and lifestyle put pressure on the Senate and the bill was never passed.

However, the Pouter-in-Chief who didn’t get his way attempted an end-run around Congress to get his beloved job-crushing energy tax passed.

Using an April 2,  2007 SCOTUS decision 549 U.S.497, that the EPA does have the authority to regulate carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration has attempted to circumvent Congress and push through EPA regulations which began on January 2, 2011.

In summary, what these new regulations did was:

• Cost up to 1.4 million jobs by 2014 and 2.5 million by 2030
• Decrease capital investment by as much as 15 percent by 2014, or more than $75 billion
• Reduce Gross Domestic Product by $500 billion by 2030
• Increase the cost of gasoline by 50 percent, electricity by 50 percent, and natural gas by 75 percent over the   next 20 years
• Reduce worker compensation by $700 per year

In response to this, House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Subcommittee on Energy & Power Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY) introduced the Energy Tax Prevention Act (H.R. 910) to block EPA’s controversial backdoor climate change agenda that would further drive up the price of energy for American consumers and job creators at a time when gas prices are already spiking and job creation remains weak.

On February 18, the House voted 249-177 to block funding for the EPA’s implementation of these regulations.

Now, next week the fight goes on to the Senate. Here is Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) summarizing the amendment, (S. 482, the Energy Tax Hike Prevention Act) he and Senator James Inhofe (R-OK)  have introduced to stop the same implementation:
