This is an excellent video commentary from Canada’s Sun News about Obama’s choice to stick with oil from “countries who don’t like us very much” over our neighbor to the north, Canada. The Keystone Pipeline Project which would have brought Canadian oil from Alberta to the Gulf of Mexico had already been given the go-ahead by the EPA but according to Obama he took the advice of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and shut down the project last week. So instead we will be continuing to buy oil from OPEC countries like Saudi Arabia and Obama’s pal Hugo Chavez.
Notice at about the 3:30 mark Obama’s broken campaign promise:
So if I’m president I’m immediately gonna direct the full resources of the federal government and the full energy of the private sector to a single overarching goal: in 10 years time we are gonna eliminate the need for oil from the entire Middle East and Venezuela. We’re just gonna eliminate it in 10 years time.
One of Obama’s excuses for going back on his word is that the proposed pipeline would go through a protected swamp in Nebraska even though both senators from Nebraska, including Dem Ben Nelson had given his blessing to the project. And it isn’t as if there are no other pipelines in the area. Take a look at the US pipeline map below courtesy of Theodora, oil is in green and natural gas is in red. And to boot the new pipeline would have been state-of-the-art:

Now Canada will undoubtedly build the pipeline anyhow, only this time to their Pacific northwest where it can be shipped to countries like China, Japan and India. Another betrayal of America and American jobs to appease environmental groups and garner votes from special interest groups in detriment to the United States.
