Tea Party strikes back against union Romney/Ryan sign thieves

In the wee morning hours of November 2, four men in a truck owned by Sheet Metal Workers International, Union Local 33 were arrested in Perrysburg, Ohio which is just over the Maumee River from Toledo. Filled to the brim in the truck were stolen Romney/Ryan signs.

The North West Ohio Conservation Coalition (NWOCC), a group of Tea Parties and Liberty Groups of which I am a proud member, started seeing their Romney/Ryan signs disappear in Perrysburg and parts of Toledo. John McAvoy, President of the group reported:

This morning 4 men driving a pickup truck registered to the Sheet Metal Union, Local 33 were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property – in the form of a bed full of Romney/Ryan yard signs, some measuring as large as 4?x8?. Also in the truck were tools such as drills, which were possibly used to take the large signs down. The signs were allegedly removed from several private property and business locations across Lucas and Wood County.

Arrested were Corey Beaubian, Christopher Monaghan, Sean Bresler and John Russell.

So how does the Tea Party respond to their Romney/Ryan signs being stolen in the dead of night? Why, passing out replacement Romney/Ryan signs in the light of day right across the street from the “den of thieves’” union hall of course.

Since the union hall is in Rossford, Ohio just a few miles from me and where the miscreants were arrested, I went to assist with the new sign handout. And here is the sight I was greeted by:

What a beautiful site! You can see the union hall across the street in the upper right hand corner. Since that is private property we were told to pass out signs across the street, and many we did. Many who didn’t stop tooted their horns in support, even the police made a few passes and tooted at us as well. Below is a short video I took of the scene:

Since this made the national news and the major blogs it appears the union’s little plan backfired big time.

And who says the Tea Party is “dead”?

You know it’s all over for Obama/Biden when…

Image at right from Toledo Blade.

Only 1,500 kids out of over 21,000 enrolled show up at the University of  Toledo for a Biden rally this day.

Joe praised Obama for his debate performance last night and said of Obama:

“never once has he turned to me, whether a decision on Bin Laden or dealing with how we serve the economy, never had him say, Joe what do you think the politics of this are. Not one time. This guy acts on his principles.”

After the low-attended rally, Joe headed over to Schmucker’s Restaurant on Reynolds Road, a well-known family-owned restaurant. I give credit for the ultra-liberal Toledo Blade for reporting the low attendance numbers, but it was Politico who reported further on this jaw-dropper:

One voter — who called Biden “a good guy” — confessed to reporters that he still wasn’t a fan of the Obama administration or the vice president .

“Before that, I told him to enjoy his last couple of months,” the man, who declined to give his name, said. “Just because you’re a good guy doesn’t mean you’re a good vice president.”

Yes folks, things are really getting bad for the current administration when you have this coming out of the mouth of someone in Toledo/union town.

But this also proves Joe can “have his pie and eat it too.” He apparently had key lime.

Paul Ryan electrifies Swanton Ohio crowd

Well, it finally happened. I had a chance to attend a rally presented by VP candidate Rep. Paul Ryan at Toledo Express Airport this day.

The rally began with local dignitaries including Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH5) and then attenders were treated to the rousing speech of Governor Mitt Romney in Virginia, live-streamed, speaking on foreign policy. When Ryan took the stage following the Governor’s speech he stated:

We just watched what leadership looks like.

Below is my short video taken as Rep. Ryan took the stage:

Ryan stated President Obama has failed to offer:

spirited and principled leadership [sic] and He [Obama] is mischaracterizing our support for veterans. Let me make one thing very clear, in the House budget that we drafted and that we passed, we fully met and exceeded the president’s request for…veterans funding by $270 million, We didn’t think the president’s went far enough and we expanded it because we know this is a promise that must be kept. These people put their lives on the line and in a Romney administration we will always keep our promise and our commitment to our veterans.

Ryan received a standing ovation when he stated he and Governor Romney when they are elected to office will open the Keystone Pipeline, which will created thousands of jobs. He also stated:

When we know that we are clearly attacked by terrorists, we won’t be afraid to say what it is. If terrorists attack us, we will say we had a terrorist attack and more importantly, we will do what is necessary to prevent that from happening by having a strong military, by making sure that our adversaries do not test us, do not think that we are a weak and in retreat.”

And for the ladies who were wondering, even though I was sitting towards the back: he looks even BETTER in person than  any picture you’ve seen…

Tim Kaine can’t hide his shoddy record on “war on coal”

Image at right from Alexander Hunter for The Washington Times.

Democrat Tim Kaine is desperately running away from his record as he attempts to become Virginia’s next senator. As governor, Kaine threw his support behind burdensome cap-and-trade regulations that were aimed at crippling his state’s vital coal industry. American Commitment’s Phil Kerpen writes in today’s Washington Times:

“As governor, he appointed an official Climate Change Commission and endorsed its recommendations, including draconian state-level restrictions on fossil fuel use. He testified on Capitol Hill in support of cap-and-trade energy taxes, which he continued to push enthusiastically when he became chairman of the Democratic National Committee.”

Now, locked in a tight race in a purple state, Kaine is trying to hide his dismal coal record from Virginia voters who need the jobs the industry provides. Suddenly, he says he stood up for coal jobs; the only problem is that no one seems to remember it:

“Mr. Kaine recently took to the air — literally — with a TV ad of himself in a helicopter, talking about how he brought a new coal plant to St. Paul, Va. Yet the New York Times reported in ‘more than a dozen interviews in St. Paul, no one was familiar with any role that Mr. Kaine had in getting the plant going.’ Environmental engineer Jeff Kite said, ‘I did the permitting, and I don’t remember that.’”

Don’t be fooled. Self-serving attempts at sweeping reality under the rug aren’t going unnoticed:

“Local delegate Terry Kilgore was outraged. ‘I have been involved in the Dominion Clean Coal plant in Wise [County] since its inception, and it’s news to me that Tim Kaine or his administration were strong advocates in making this a reality,’ Mr. Kilgore said. ‘In fact, we had to fight his boards to get it permitted.’”

Can Virginia really afford Tim Kaine’s politics as usual when coal is receiving an all-out assault? The anti-coal regulations he helped push claimed another 1,200 American jobs only a few weeks ago:

“Mines are being closed. The latest announcement came from Alpha Natural Resources, which is laying off 1,200 coal miners, citing ‘a regulatory environment that’s aggressively aimed at constraining the use of coal.’”

A war on coal is one of the few campaign promises actually kept by President Obama. Now, four years later, thousands of jobs have been lost for a politically-fueled agenda that Tim Kaine supported until the moment it became politically inconvenient.

George Allen is Kaine’s Republican opponent.
