Tea Party strikes back against union Romney/Ryan sign thieves

In the wee morning hours of November 2, four men in a truck owned by Sheet Metal Workers International, Union Local 33 were arrested in Perrysburg, Ohio which is just over the Maumee River from Toledo. Filled to the brim in the truck were stolen Romney/Ryan signs.

The North West Ohio Conservation Coalition (NWOCC), a group of Tea Parties and Liberty Groups of which I am a proud member, started seeing their Romney/Ryan signs disappear in Perrysburg and parts of Toledo. John McAvoy, President of the group reported:

This morning 4 men driving a pickup truck registered to the Sheet Metal Union, Local 33 were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property – in the form of a bed full of Romney/Ryan yard signs, some measuring as large as 4?x8?. Also in the truck were tools such as drills, which were possibly used to take the large signs down. The signs were allegedly removed from several private property and business locations across Lucas and Wood County.

Arrested were Corey Beaubian, Christopher Monaghan, Sean Bresler and John Russell.

So how does the Tea Party respond to their Romney/Ryan signs being stolen in the dead of night? Why, passing out replacement Romney/Ryan signs in the light of day right across the street from the “den of thieves’” union hall of course.

Since the union hall is in Rossford, Ohio just a few miles from me and where the miscreants were arrested, I went to assist with the new sign handout. And here is the sight I was greeted by:

What a beautiful site! You can see the union hall across the street in the upper right hand corner. Since that is private property we were told to pass out signs across the street, and many we did. Many who didn’t stop tooted their horns in support, even the police made a few passes and tooted at us as well. Below is a short video I took of the scene:

Since this made the national news and the major blogs it appears the union’s little plan backfired big time.

And who says the Tea Party is “dead”?

You know it’s all over for Obama/Biden when…

Image at right from Toledo Blade.

Only 1,500 kids out of over 21,000 enrolled show up at the University of  Toledo for a Biden rally this day.

Joe praised Obama for his debate performance last night and said of Obama:

“never once has he turned to me, whether a decision on Bin Laden or dealing with how we serve the economy, never had him say, Joe what do you think the politics of this are. Not one time. This guy acts on his principles.”

After the low-attended rally, Joe headed over to Schmucker’s Restaurant on Reynolds Road, a well-known family-owned restaurant. I give credit for the ultra-liberal Toledo Blade for reporting the low attendance numbers, but it was Politico who reported further on this jaw-dropper:

One voter — who called Biden “a good guy” — confessed to reporters that he still wasn’t a fan of the Obama administration or the vice president .

“Before that, I told him to enjoy his last couple of months,” the man, who declined to give his name, said. “Just because you’re a good guy doesn’t mean you’re a good vice president.”

Yes folks, things are really getting bad for the current administration when you have this coming out of the mouth of someone in Toledo/union town.

But this also proves Joe can “have his pie and eat it too.” He apparently had key lime.

Paul Ryan electrifies Swanton Ohio crowd

Well, it finally happened. I had a chance to attend a rally presented by VP candidate Rep. Paul Ryan at Toledo Express Airport this day.

The rally began with local dignitaries including Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH5) and then attenders were treated to the rousing speech of Governor Mitt Romney in Virginia, live-streamed, speaking on foreign policy. When Ryan took the stage following the Governor’s speech he stated:

We just watched what leadership looks like.

Below is my short video taken as Rep. Ryan took the stage:

Ryan stated President Obama has failed to offer:

spirited and principled leadership [sic] and He [Obama] is mischaracterizing our support for veterans. Let me make one thing very clear, in the House budget that we drafted and that we passed, we fully met and exceeded the president’s request for…veterans funding by $270 million, We didn’t think the president’s went far enough and we expanded it because we know this is a promise that must be kept. These people put their lives on the line and in a Romney administration we will always keep our promise and our commitment to our veterans.

Ryan received a standing ovation when he stated he and Governor Romney when they are elected to office will open the Keystone Pipeline, which will created thousands of jobs. He also stated:

When we know that we are clearly attacked by terrorists, we won’t be afraid to say what it is. If terrorists attack us, we will say we had a terrorist attack and more importantly, we will do what is necessary to prevent that from happening by having a strong military, by making sure that our adversaries do not test us, do not think that we are a weak and in retreat.”

And for the ladies who were wondering, even though I was sitting towards the back: he looks even BETTER in person than  any picture you’ve seen…

Ohio race very close thanks to Romney’s excellent ground game

The following information and presser comes from Scott Jennings, Sr. Advisor & Ohio State Director, Romney for President. So don’t pay any attention to those “Eeyores” out there. Photo at right courtesy of WaPo.

Early voting begins on Tuesday in Ohio and I thought I’d share some thoughts on recent polling and grassroots metrics that tell me Mitt Romney is well positioned to win Ohio’s 18 Electoral Votes.

First, Public Policy Polling, a Democrat firm, released an Ohio survey Sunday night showing Barack Obama with a four point lead over Mitt Romney. The survey revealed that by no means is the race in Ohio anything other than up for grabs, with PPP reporting:

“It’s a mistake to think based on recent polling in Ohio that the race there is over. Obama is not popular in the state…”

  •  More people disapprove than approve of Obama in Ohio. 49% of respondents disapprove of the job Obama is doing, and only 48% approve. There are plenty enough people in Ohio who disapprove of Obama for Mitt Romney to persuade and win the state’s 18 electoral votes.
  •  Undecided voters overwhelmingly disapprove of Obama. Among those still undecided on the election, just 13% approve and 65% disapprove of Obama. Mitt Romney has a huge pool of undecided voters to talk to in October who have already concluded that Obama has done a poor job in office.
  • This poll was a D+5 sample, closer to reality. As we’ve pointed out, many of the Ohio public polls showing outrageous leads for Obama were caused by dramatic oversampling of Democrats. This survey is a bit more realistic. It’s amazing what happens when you stop oversampling Democrats – you find a race in Ohio that is tight-as-a-tick. As a reminder, in 2008 Democrats enjoyed a partisan turnout advantage of eight points (D+8). In 2004, Republicans had an advantage of five points (R+5). We believe this race will fall somewhere well inside those confines, even as some national media surveys give Democrats an advantage outside those bounds.

Second, Rasmussen’s national tracking poll on Sunday had an interesting tidbit:

“Currently, 43% of voters are “certain” they will vote for Romney. Forty-two percent (42%) are that certain they will vote for Obama. The remaining 15% are either uncommitted or open to changing their mind. When you consider that so many of those undecided voters in Ohio have a sour view of the President’s job in Ohio, you can reasonably conclude that Mitt Romney has a solid chance of convincing them the country would be better off going in a different direction.”

On top of the Rasmussen tidbit, two new national polls find a very tight race. The Politico/GWU/Battleground poll shows a two point race among likely voters, as does the ABC News/Washington Post poll.

Third, Mitt Romney’s campaign in Ohio is absolutely crushing its ground game metrics as part of the Republican Party’s Victory effort. Sometime this week the campaign will knock on its one millionth door and make its three millionth phone call since May. More doors have been knocked in Ohio than in any other swing state by the Romney-Ryan Victory effort, and public and private polling continues to show a similar number of Ohioans who say they’ve been personally contacted by the Romney and Obama campaigns. This is a significant achievement considering that Obama’s operators claim to have hundreds of offices and thousands of staffers in Ohio who’ve been prepping their effort for four years. The Romney-Victory effort began in May. This tells us that Obama’s ground game claims are largely made for press release fodder and not actual voter contact.

Last week, the Romney-Ryan Victory effort in Ohio knocked on 162,506 thousands doors. The week before it was 137,948, leaving the astonished Ohio Democrat Party Chairman exasperated in this Washington Post article. Sorry to ruin your Monday morning, Mr. Chairman. In fact, over 300-thousand Ohio doors were knocked in the last two weeks by thousands of Ohio Republican volunteers hungry for a change in leadership in the White House. These volunteers know that the Romney-Ryan road to victory in November runs through Ohio, and they are doing everything in their power to make that a reality.

Bottom line – the race in Ohio is close, undecided voters are extremely unhappy with Barack Obama, and Mitt Romney’s campaign has built a ground game that is at the very least matching Obama’s while surpassing all previous Republican efforts when it comes to knocking on doors and contacting voters face-to-face.

This week, the Romney-Ryan Victory effort in Ohio will conduct its fifth “Buckeye Blitz,” which will yield hundreds of thousands of additional voter contacts. The Romney Ryan “Early Vote Express” bus will make stops across the state to encourage supporters to bank their votes early and then volunteer for the campaign. On Wednesday night, the campaign will hold dozens of debate watching parties where supporters will gather and organize for the final campaign push. And while the ground game capacity continues to expand in all 88 Ohio counties, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will continue to make the case to all Americans about their plan to create 12 million jobs, cut the debt, drive us toward energy independence, and stand up to China’s cheating that costs our country jobs.

I am excited about what I see on the ground, and enthusiastic about the positive vision for change the Romney-Ryan ticket is offering Ohio voters. ___Scott Jennings.

Toledo Romney Rally debunks claims of *doom* for the Governor

In the last few days we have seen some extraordinary “doom and gloom” stories about Mitt Romney’s campaign. The most notable has come from “conservative” Erick Erickson of RedState. The tenor of his article brings to mind the thought “just whose side are you on, any how?”

Hillbuzz even goes so far as calling Erickson out on their site:

do you think there will be professional consequences for Erik Erikson after the election where he’ll have to answer for his “Tokyo Rose” act that seeks to demoralize and depress Republican voters?

And then they even later in the day call Erickson the #1 Conservative Tokyo Rose.

An excellent article at Unified Patriots by Lady Penquin opines on this phenomenon of “Eeyorism” or Republicans and Conservative pundits touting doom and gloom for Governor Romney. These people in my eyes have broken Ronald Reagan’s “11th Commandment” which is NOT to speak ill of any fellow Republican. Yet they have and still call themselves “Conservatives.”

Instead what they should be focusing on are statements such as this, made by Obama at a rally at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio yesterday and re-stated at Kent State the same day:

We don’t believe anybody’s entitled to success in this country—Barack Obama, 9-26-12

But I beg to differ with these Tokyo Roses, as I attended a rally for Governor Romney in Toledo, Ohio yesterday. For those who aren’t familiar with Toledo, it is a heavily union town in Ohio #9, ruled with an iron fist for the last 30 years by radical Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D). Also in play are the ultra liberal Block Brothers who have a monopoly on Toledo printed news, the rag called Toledo Blade.

The rally was held at the downtown Toledo Seagate Convention Center and I thought I had arrived early enough but was greeted by a great amount of glee to a line of people almost 5-blocks long waiting to get in the Center. RSMcCain has this video of the snaking of the crowd awaiting entry:

Even more remarkable and gleeful than this was the pitiful turnout of OFA and the other myriad of protesters. Toledo Blade estimates their numbers at 75, but during my hour-long wait in line I saw no more than about 20. My picture below:

And when I got inside the center, this is what I saw: a standing-room-only crowd estimated at about 5,000. Holy Toledo!! How wonderful was that!

Chants could be heard of “O-H-I-O!!” and unlike Obama, we know how to spell it!!

Governor Romney then took center stage during thunderous applause. The picture below is from a friend of mine who was there, who got a much better one since I was standing in the back:

So I would opine to all the Ericksons and Eeyores out there, if Romney’s campaign is behind, why has Obama visited Ohio at least 28 times, and why such a huge turnout for Romney in an ultra-liberal town? Unlike polls, statistics don’t lie, and below are some salient facts about what dire straights Ohio is in since Obama became president:

These are just some of the many challenges facing not only Ohio, but other states as well.

We literally can’t afford, 4 more years of Obama. Let’s concentrate on touting the failings of Obama, instead of stating *doom and gloom* for our candidate.
